There is an existing policy that, combined with other policies is unfair. The requirement for a Greek Village Parking Permit by those who do not live in the village but who are members of fraternities or sororities is rediculous. University policy says that members of greek orginizations who have houses must be enrolled in the house's meal plan. This means, by location of the greek village, that people who do not live in the house must drive to, and park at the house to eat lunch and dinner. These people only park for about one hour for their meal, then leave. The fact that they get ticketed during that one hour span is something that needs changing. The law is in existence to prevent people from parking in the GV who do not belong there, and the University's position is that if you want to park at any time you have to pay. Unfortunately the cost to park is astronomically high and unfair to those who dont live in the GV but are forced to eat there. I would propose a special, cheaper parking tag for those who want to eat that allows certain windows of time for them to park. The University has yet to establish such a law because of the revenue it gathers from parking tags of those forced to pay, as well as parking violation tickets for those who refuse to by a tag.
